Pokemon GO upcoming releases postponed till the Nearby tracking bug gets fixed
in past previous days, pokemon GO was released in like 70+ countries in very few weeks of the release of the game. This Game is a huge success and everyone including child and elders are getting used to it. According to reports, people are spending more time than whatsapp and Facebook on Pokemon GO. In short, its the new trend.
But even after the release in the many new countries, the game is still not available to many parts of Asia, Africa and South America. According to reports, Pokemon GO was about to be released in Japan, Which will obviously bring the game servers down. The company is trying to to upgrade their servers everyday but they still cant get used to it as company never thought to attract this much amount of People on Pokemon GO
many people keep asking Niantic on its twitter fanpage to keep the servers up But the another issue Which Niantic need to work on now, is its "3 footsteps" tracking device bug.
This bug is already discussed on many Facebook groups and Twitter fanpages, so here's a quick recap - Last Friday night something happened to the game, and instead of tracking nearby pokemons from unspecified distance of three, to two, to one, The game is now displaying 3 footsteps for all pokemons regardless of whether they're next door to you, or 1 km away.
The another and most funny bug many people come to notice is many people seeing "shadows" of many rare pokemons which are not even near to them. In previous screenshots shared by many people on twitter and facebook group, that shows "nearby" Dragonites, Blastoises, Pinsirs, Aerodactyls, Charizards, Mewtwo even (srsly?) etc, they might even get able to find them all if the tracker was working but unluckily when it isnt working. they are not able to catch them all
Even after the existance of this bug for more than 5 days, niantic is still silent is not revealing anything to the players on social media, looks like they are out of community managers that rely any kind of message or update to the players.
but according to a redditor, this 3 step tracking bug might not be an accident at all. recently a guy did some tests on the game, and came up with following results.
“For fun I ran the app through Charles Proxy to analyse their API calls. Turns out the 3 step bug and the blank map are caused by the same issue. Whatever API key Niantic included in the last release isn’t valid. When the app makes a call to Google to either display the map or to do a reverse geo-lookup on your location the Google Maps API returns the following: “The Google Maps API server rejected your request. This API project is not authorized to use this API. Please ensure that this API is activated in the APIs Console.”
I don’t know if this is for sure what’s happening, but it would certainly explain a lot. The takeaway from this is that either Niantic made mistake and are not unwilling or able to fix it. or this could be a deliberate action to reduce some loads from servers after the massive success of Pokemon GO all over the world.
The problem of course is the stability of the game. You will be able to use incense or lure modules to attract pokemons. You can go gyms, pokestops to collect freebies and hatch eggs, but you cannot hunt and track a specific pokemon and hunt them into the wild because of this bug/API issue.
This is why the release of the game in new countries in upcoming days should be postponed by Niantic till they fix this bug or they'll end up creating New problems for their new players.
